Glass has always been Maurizio Casali’s greatest passion, the creative vision behind every Casali® product.
He discovered this passion at a very young age, as he recalls:
“I have always been fascinated by this spirit of eternal transparency. I have many memories of myself as a teenager, during winter, drawing on the steam that formed on the glass. I would lose myself trying to create transparency upon transparency.”
As an adult, Maurizio Casali’s ambition was to go beyond the traditional and purely functional use of glass, exploring instead its full expressive, architectural, and decorative potential.
Casali® has reimagined glass, bringing it into everyday living spaces and pushing the boundaries of conventional techniques used to work with this ancient and extraordinary material. "Albero"
When a drawing becomes an icon
Some drawings are born quietly, on a sheet of paper.
Then, almost without asking permission, they become part of a brand’s memory.
Albero is one of them.
Created by the hand of Maurizio Casali, Albero is not simply a decorative pattern: it is a vision. An organic, instinctive, free-flowing sketch where each line seems to follow the natural movement of life itself. Branches stretch, intertwine, and open into space. Lines that may appear spontaneous, yet reveal a deeper precision: the precision of an artist who understands the material and can already imagine how light will pass through it.
The original hand-drawn sketch, created many years ago, still carries the power of that first intuition. From that sheet of paper came one of the most recognizable and beloved designs in Casali’s history: a tree engraved into glass, capable of transforming a door, a sliding wall, or a large architectural partition into a living presence.
Its strength comes from the encounter between artistic gesture and artisanal craftsmanship. Engraving, sandblasting and, when required, hand-painting make each creation unique. The tree is not simply printed onto the glass like an ordinary image: it is transferred into the material, engraved into the very skin of the glass, allowing it to converse with transparency.
This is why Albero has become much more than a model.
It has become a symbol.
A symbol of the way Casali interprets glass: not merely as a technical element, but as an emotional material. A material capable of dividing without closing, protecting without weighing down, decorating without overwhelming.
